BirkenEd’s Place – w/c 28th August

5th September 2023

This was the last week of engagement for Birkenhead Waterfront and Surrounds, a scheme that looks to deliver highway, walking and cycling, and public realm improvements to Birkenhead waterfront and its surrounding areas (Woodside, Hamilton Square and Argyle Street). We have heard many valuable comments and ideas regarding issues and topics like accessibility, safety, heritage and tourism. We appreciate all who have offered their time and comments to this engagement project, throughout each of its different phases.

Last week was also our final week in BirkenEd’s Place before closing for a short period. We’ll be taking a short break in September, closing on Monday 4th September and reopening on Monday 25th September. This means that we can bring more information and community engagement on a later project.  More information on our next engagement projects will be coming soon.

Over the last month, Involve Northwest have joined us in the space to offer support and advice in relation to issues like mental health, employment, housing, benefits. We would like to thank them for kindly offering their time to offer this service in BirkenEd’s. Involve will be doing further drop-in sessions when we reopen in late September – more details will be available closer to the time.

Thank you to all our volunteers this week – Charlotte Summer, Hannah Dowdall, David Marsh, and Diya Calleechurn. We would also like to say a massive thank you to all who have volunteered their time to support us in BirkenEd’s Place so far – Wirral Council, our ambassadors, and design team colleagues; your time and efforts have been invaluable to our work at BirkenEd’s and we look forward to working with you further when we return in late September!
