Engagements and Events

There will be a changing programme of projects for you to share your views on in BirkenEd’s Place. They will include the Waterfront, Argyle Street and Hamilton Square, Dock Branch Masterplan, the Town Centre and St Werburghs.

We’ll also be running a range of events, from walking tours to family craft activities, along with opportunities to get creative, such as our photography competition.

The programme will be updated regularly, with the latest information about what’s on below. Check back to see new updates or sign up to our newsletter to receive notifications.

You can drop into BirkenEd’s Place Monday, Wednesday, Thursday 11-5pm and 11-4pm Saturday to chat with us, have a cuppa or take part in some of our engagements. Please note, we’re closed for Christmas and New Year 19th – 4th January.

Engagements

Find out about the current projects we are engaging on below. More projects will be added in the upcoming weeks.

22nd November – 26th November: Argyle Street improvements

Come and share your views on proposed highway improvements to Argyle Street, helping to improve cycling and pedestrian routes and create a more pleasant street.

This scheme is part of the ambitious plans for the Waterfront, Argyle Street and Hamilton Square, with other parts of the scheme being shared in January.

22nd November – 3rd December: Dock Branch Masterplan

Join us to input into plans for the creation of a new well-connected green neighbourhood in Central Birkenhead, with the potential to deliver around 1,200 new homes. This new neighbourhood will be centred around a new linear public park on the former Dock Branch railway line, and a new Heritage attraction called ‘The Transport Shed’, which will house National Museum Liverpool’s impressive transport collection.

30th November – 3rd December: Grange Road, Charing Cross & Grange Road West

Schemes to improve walking and the public realm on Grange Road, within the Charing Cross junction and on Grange Road West will be on display.

The improvements will provide a more attractive place for people to shop, live, visit or work and will support the regeneration of Birkenhead town centre, providing an improved, better connected and more sustainable experience for all who use this area.

7th – 17th December: Town Centre and St Werburghs

Plans will be shared for the St Werburghs, along with initial ideas for the Town Centre masterplan.

The town centre plans will improve the quality of shops, workspaces and places to eat and drink. The St Werburgh’s area includes the proposal for a new Birkenhead Market, creating a sustainable new community at the heart of the town, with market businesses, independent shops, food and drink, and creative industries along with residential uses.
