BirkenEd’s Place – w/c 25th September
3rd October 2023
This week, BirkenEd’s Place reopened to the public for the Birkenhead to Liscard Active Travel Route. This active travel project proposes an impressive 3.5 mile route that starts at Chester Street in Birkenhead Town Centre and goes all the way up to Liscard Town Centre via Hamilton Square, Woodside Ferry and Seacombe. The scheme includes redesigned streets to improve accessibility, safety and provide high quality facilities for pedestrians and cyclists. We’ve had some great feedback so far from local people on the scheme.
We also held our Birkenhead Memories event with local historian Elizabeth Davey, which was a fascinating exploration of Birkenhead’s history that connected the town’s past to current development and regeneration plans.
There is still time to catch the engagement this week. We’re still engaging on the active travel route for another week, until Saturday 7th October, before we take it to more local pop-up events across the proposed route.
Thank you to all our volunteers this week – Simon Young, Julie Barnes, and Eleanor Huggins.
