BirkenEd’s Place is reopening!
11th May 2023
We are thrilled to announce that our community engagement hub, BirkenEd’s Place, will soon be reopening, following a period of closure and evaluation during the election period. Wirral Council decided to extend the shop due to its’ popularity as a space to involve local people and other stakeholders in the future of Birkenhead.
In its’ first four months, BirkenEd’s Place not only functioned as an engagement hub, but also a much-valued community space – a space for conversation, for sharing ideas and projects and, most importantly, for community and being together in the heart of Birkenhead. Between November and closing in March, BirkenEd’s Place has had 2500 visitors. 98% of people of those who shared their views told us that they enjoyed their visit and 78% said the space makes them feel more part of their neighbourhood.
The shop will continue to be open four days a week, with the official launch on 12th June 2023. The first exhibition will be a collaboration with the University of Liverpool School of Architecture, and will include student ideas for the future of the town.
In advance of this, two pop-up events will be held focused on the Hind Street development on the 19th May 12-6pm, and 20th May 10-2pm.
The team at PLACED are very much looking forward to delivering a programme of further engagement and events over the next three months, and welcoming back regular visitors into the space.
